Destination Trinidad Welcomes the Hanseatic Nature Cruise Ship on its inaugural visit to our shores

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago– Destination Trinidad proudly welcomed approximately 350 passengers and crew of the Hanseatic Nature on its inaugural sailing to the Port of Port of Spain on Wednesday 2nd April, 2025.
The expedition-based vessel, which home ports in Malta, arrived with a significant number of German nationals onboard, who took the opportunity to explore our island’s breathtaking natural wonders and rich cultural heritage during their day’s stay. As part of pre-planned quayside activities that were coordinated by Tourism Trinidad, visitors were fully engaged and entranced by Trinidad’s exceptional cultural displays and sweet sounds of the steelpan instrument.
Onboard the vessel, a local contingent that included Cornell Buckradee, Manager of Investment and Business Development at Tourism Trinidad, and Marcia Charles-Elbourne, General Manager of the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, conducted a customary crest exchange with the Ship’s Captain, Uff Sodemann. “The arrival of the Hanseatic Nature underscored Trinidad’s appeal as an eco-tourism and cultural destination,” said Cornell Buckradee of Tourism Trinidad. “Every cruise call presents an opportunity to showcase the warmth, vibrancy, and uniqueness of Destination Trinidad. As we continue to welcome visitors from across the globe, we remain committed to delivering authentic, unforgettable experiences that inspire return visits.”
During their time here, passengers of the Hanseatic Nature embarked on a range of immersive eco-tours and cultural excursions, including:
- Caroni Bird Sanctuary Tour.
- Yerette’s Hummingbird Experience.
- Temple in the Sea and the Hanuman Murti.
- HADCO Experiences at ASA Wright Nature Centre.
- Mud Volcano Adventure.
The visit of the Hanseatic Nature forms part of an exciting 2024–2025 cruise season, which began on October 8, 2024, with the arrival of the Seabourn Venture.
The arrival of the Hanseatic Nature reflected Trinidad’s increasing recognition as a destination for eco-conscious and adventure-seeking travellers.
